Ol' Duffer

YEAR: 1962
Gage Marine of Geneva Lake, Wisconsin, built these boats for roughly a decade in the 1960's under license from John Hacker.
John Hacker was the most famed naval architect in the world, and his designs are still revered to this day, as well as used in modern built replicas. Not only are they visually appealing, but their performance and ride has always been considered legendary. Gage-Marine has been an institution on the lake for decades, and where many families acquired their first boats.

LENGTH: 22'
"Ol' Duffer was acquired almost new by the Carlson family of Geneva Lake, Wisconsin, and was a centrepiece of family memories on the lake for almost half a century, when in 2022, her original bottom was beyond repair. She was sent to Breen Boats for one of their world-renowned solid-plank encapsulated bottoms. Done slowly over a couple years, she was launched in 2025, well suited to last another 50+years with minimal care required.

BUILDER: GAGE HACKER
"Ol' Duffer" is powered with an original 1964 Ford 289 Interceptor V8 that was bored and stroked to 390 cu. in.
As part of her restoration, her plywood floor was replaced with grated mahogany, she was stripped, re-finished with new deck grout, as well as receiving new upholstery and chrome-plating. Custom Gage Hacker gauge restoration was the final touch. She is now back continually making lake memories for Steve & Betsy Carlson and friends and attending local events.
